Hi! This is my first experience writing a blog and I am super excited. Let me first tell you a little more about myself and my family.
My fiancé, Josh, and I just purchased our first house in May of 2011 in Southeastern PA. We share our home with Stanley, a 2.5 year old fully flighted pigeon, our recently adopted dog, Boomer, a Red Tail Hawk named Terc, and our sweet, slightly overweight mouse, Dude. Josh is a 2nd year apprentice Falconer, hence the hawk :)

Stanley was just a little 3 week old squeaker when we adopted him in May of 2009. He had fallen out of his nest and was brought in to the wildlife rehab center I was working at. Because pigeons are one of the few birds that are not protected under the migratory species act they are often abused, hunted, and generally unappreciated by most and he would have most likely been euthanized. Other then being around my mom's birds growing up I had never raised a bird, let alone a baby pigeon but I jumped right in and an hour later I was out looking for cages.

We do not clip his wings so he has pretty much full run of the house when we are home. He is very curious and inquisitive and will spend all day exploring and getting into trouble. He loves to snuggle and he has quite the personality! Imagine a five year old with wings! Stanley goes pretty much everywhere with me in his bird backpack so he is used to long car rides and hotels and isn't scared off by much so we share many adventures together as human and pigeon.
